Our apples – A new project on the farm
Christian and Julie have been dreaming of having an orchard for 20 years. However, several people told them that they were not in a good area and that the soil was not suitable. In 2017, Christian asked specialists to analyze the soil and study the land. There was hope, but they were told it would not be an easy task..
In the spring of 2018, we started soil preparation. We met a nurseryman and an agronomist specialized in apple trees to guide us in this great adventure! The dream came true in the spring of 2019: we planted an orchard of 270 semi-dwarf apple trees spread over one hectare. The orchard is composed of several varieties allowing a harvest during the months of September and October.
Here are the varieties that will be ready for picking in the fall of 2024:
- Honeycrisp
- Gala
- Haralred
- Lobo
- Marshall Mac
- McIntosh Imperial
- Paula red
- Primgold
- Royal Court
We also have trees that produce small apples. To be continued!
